Introduction

These Terms of Use govern your use of study.tylue.com, a website created for the Public Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence Chatbot Study.

By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you should not use this website.

About this website

This website has been created by Tyler Lue as part of an undergraduate dissertation project at Manchester Metropolitan University, under the supervision of my appointed supervisor.

The purpose of the website is to provide information about the study and, where applicable, allow eligible participants to take part in a short web-based chatbot interaction.

Eligibility

This study is intended only for individuals aged 18 or over. By using the study participation features of this website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

Participation in the study

Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You are free to decide whether or not to take part.

Before taking part, you should read the Participant Information Sheet and complete the consent step provided on the website.

You may stop participating at any time before submitting your responses. Once responses have been submitted, it may not be possible to withdraw them if they cannot be linked back to you.

Acceptable use

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not misuse, disrupt, damage, or interfere with the website or other users.

You must not attempt to:

- gain unauthorised access to the website, server, database, or related systems;

- interfere with the operation or security of the website;

- submit malicious code, automated spam, or harmful content;

- use the website in a way that is fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful; or

- impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or eligibility.

Study responses

You are responsible for any information you choose to submit through the chatbot.

You should not include information that is unnecessary for the study, especially direct personal identifiers about yourself or other people.

Responses may be excluded from analysis if they appear to be abusive, deliberately misleading, spam-like, or clearly unrelated to the purpose of the study.

Availability of the website

Reasonable efforts will be made to keep the website available, but continuous availability is not guaranteed. The website may be updated, suspended, restricted, or withdrawn at any time, including for maintenance, security, or research administration reasons.

Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content, design, and study materials made available on this website are provided for the purposes of this research project and remain the intellectual property of their respective owner(s).

You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes connected with the study. You must not reproduce, republish, or redistribute substantial parts of the website content in a misleading or commercial way without permission.

No professional advice

This website and chatbot are provided for research purposes only. They do not provide legal, medical, mental health, financial, or other professional advice.

Liability

Reasonable care will be taken in providing this website, but the website is provided on an “as available” basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, no guarantee is given that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or free from technical issues beyond reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Privacy and data protection

Your use of this website is also subject to the Privacy Policy and the Participant Information Sheet, which explain how study information is collected, used, and protected.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms of Use may be updated if the study website or related arrangements change. The latest version will always be published on study.tylue.com with an updated effective date.
